About the project

The project Discovering Tauric Chersonesos is being realized within the frames of cooperation between the National Preserve of Tauric Chersonesos and the Institute of Classical Archaeology at the University of Texas in Austin

This project is aimed at the publication in Internet archival documents and photographs concerning the investigations of the ancient city of Tauric Chersonesos and its environs.

Photographs and documents are placed within the site in accordance with topographical index, which includes sections of the ancient city of Chersonesos, necropoleis (ancient cemeteries), chora (agricultural area), and environs, that is the territory outside the city defensive walls, ruins of the ancient fortresses Kalamita (Inkerman) and Cembalo (Balaklava), as well as regions in the Crimean mountains.

The documents are supplied with brief descriptions that correspond to records of these documents in archival registration books. For more information about the documents and images please contact project administrators (see Contacts).

© All the documents are published at this web page for information only. No portion of them may be reproduced in any form without the permission of the right-holder, which is the National Preserve of Tauric Chersonesos.
